UFC 244 has it's official headliner!
UFC president Dana White has officially confirmed that a welterweight showdown between Jorge 'Gamebred' Masvidal and Nate Diaz will headline UFC 244 on November 2nd. from Madison Square Garden. The pairing was long rumored to feature on the New York card but will incredibly now take curtain closing status after a welterweight title fight between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington failed to materialize. White confirmed how the clash needed to take place in a five rounder, but how the meeting was too high profile for a UFC Fight Night event.

A championship belt labeled the "Baddest Motherf****r in the Game" is also in the process of being made with Diaz telling after his UFC 241 victory over Anthony Pettis, that currently, he holds the title. Jorge Masvidal's stock has risen dramatically over the last calendar year, with eye-catching knockouts over Darren Till, and more notably, a record-setting five-second flying knee stoppage of the then-undefeated Ben Askren to firmly seal his status as a top contender at 170 pounds.

UFC 244 takes place on November 2nd. from Madison Square Garden in New York City, with a handful of exciting matchups already confirmed to take place. Brazilian striker Johnny Walker looks to continue his timely rise through the ranks as he takes on Corey Anderson in a high stakes light heavyweight match, while former heavyweight title challenger Derrick Lewis meets Bulgarian heavy hitter Blagoy Ivanov. A potential flyweight title eliminator between Katlyn Chookagian and Jennifer Maia is expected to land in NYC, while the undefeated middleweight finisher Edmen Shahbazyan has been confirmed to take on Poland's Krzysztof Jotko. Darren Till will also make his middleweight bow that night, meeting one-time interim title challenger Kelvin Gastelum.
