'Wonderboy' Thompson returns to MSG this November.

Another exciting welterweight meeting is expected to take place on the stacked UFC 244 card at Madison Square Garden on November 2nd. Two-time title chaser Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson is set to clash with rising New Jersey contender Vicente Luque. Thompson suffered his first-ever professional knockout against Anthony 'Showtime' Pettis in their headlining slot in March, while Luque just recently at UFC Fight Night Montevideo extended his win streak to six with a unanimous but close, decision victory over 'Platinum' Mike Perry.

Thompson, who has lost three of his last four fights in the promotion, has twice challenged for 170-pound gold during Tyron Woodley's welterweight championship reign. The South Carolina striker holds notable wins over fellow UFC 244 feature Jorge Masvidal, current middleweight best Robert Whittaker, former welterweight gold holder Johny Hendricks, and current Bellator MMA welterweight pack leader Rory MacDonald. The 36-year-old's Kickboxing exploits are well known aside from his mixed-martial-arts career, holding world championships under the I.A.K.S.A and W.A.K.O banners, as well as an undefeated fifty-eight fight record.

The Ultimate Fighter alumni Vicente Luque has really made a blistering tear through some noteworthy names at welterweight since his Octagon bow four years ago. Luque has been bested by Leon Edwards and Michael Graves but holds eye-catching stoppages of Niko Price, Belal Muhammad, Hyder Hassan, Bryan Barberena and during his time on the regional circuit in Brazil, picked up a stoppage win over light heavyweight bruiser Thiago 'Marreta' Santos.

UFC 244 takes place from Madison Square Garden on November 2nd. with a mouth-watering welterweight meeting between Jorge 'Gamebred' Masvidal and Nate Diaz taking headlining status for the one time BMF championship. Darren Till takes a co-main event slot in his middleweight debut against highly dangerous boxer Kelvin Gastelum. Brazilian striker Johnny Walker looks to continue his timely rise through the ranks as he takes on Corey Anderson in a high stakes light heavyweight match, while former heavyweight title challenger Derrick Lewis meets Bulgarian heavy hitter Blagoy Ivanov. A potential flyweight title eliminator between Katlyn Chookagian and Jennifer Maia is expected to land in NYC, while the undefeated middleweight finisher Edmen Shahbazyan has been confirmed to take on Poland's Krzysztof Jotko. A featherweight clash between Julio Arce and Hakeem Dawodu has recently been matched while welterweights Lyman Good and Chance Rencountre throw down.
