Alexander Gustafsson stops Glover with fifth round barrage:

Alexander Gustafsson eyes third title siege after dominant win over Glover Teixeira.

Our main event of UFC Fight Night Stockholm seen a Light Heavyweight showdown between former title challengers Alexander Gustafsson and Brazil's Glover Teixeira, as both men look to secure yet another title tilt. Hometown favourite 'The Mauler' Gustafsson pushed both Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones the furthest in their respectable careers, while Curitiba native Teixeira lost a decision to 'Bones' Jones in his only UFC title bout. Keys for success for Alexander is his utilisation of kicks, movement and speed advantage, while avoiding a possible takedown from Glover, while Glover must look to land early and use his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu advantage if he is to pick up a huge career victory.

The opening of five scheduled rounds began with a missed spinning-back kick from the hometown hero, before a shot leg kick, and then an uppercut from Glover landed flush. A huge takedown scored for Teixeira, dropping Gustasson on his head. Some good movement made way for a straight right before a punishing uppercut struck the chin of Glover, who was chasing a running Gustafsson. A bad eye poke against Teixeira as Alexander moved toward the Brazilian, who then confirmed his willingness to continue. A short, quick uppercut landed clean for Gustafsson as he looked loose in the first couple of minutes of the opening five. Gustafsson was implying a similar tactic to Alistair Overeem at UFC 203, electing to run from Teixeira as he engaged.

The second round began with some decent jabs from Alexander, before he once more scored that sneaky uppercut. Glover was in big trouble after a massive combination from Gustafsson who swarmed to finish, but Glover survived and landed a good hook to the body of Gustafsson, before Glover pushed forward with pressure again forcing 'The Mauler' to run, as the round ended.

Glover Teixeira clipped Gus early in the third before the Swede landed his own shot dropping the Brazil native once again, before landing some close elbows from guard. Alexander from the fence did well to secure a good inside trip takedown. Back on the feet, Gus was reverting to that smashing uppercut, punishing Glover dearly. Another round for Gustafsson heading into the fourth.

A good body kick to the liver opened the round on a painful note for Teixeira, before the Brazil striker returned a shot of his own. A slashing elbow found it's mark for 'The Mauler' before both men engaged in a clinch by the fence. Gustafsson was popping a stiff and quick jab on the chin on Teixeira. A lethal combination once more landed for the very fluid Gustafsson but Glover continued to walk through.

The fifth and final round began with a dominant first minute for Gustafsson before a phenomenal three piece uppercut and right hook combination finally shut the lights out for Glover Teixeira in an incredible performance from 'The Mauler' Gustafsson.
