Darren Elkins extends unbeaten run to 5 with Bermudez win:

Clever performance from Darren Elkins.
An exciting co-main event at UFC Fight Night Long Island, sees legitimate Featherweight contenders Dennis 'The Menace' Bermudez meet Darren Elkins in a potential fight of the night contender. Bermudez was unsuccessful against the returning Chan-Sung Jung last time out, while opponent Elkins displayed tremendous heart to stop Mirsad Bektic after he was dominant in the for the majority of their meeting.

Referee Dan Miragliotta was the third man in the middle for this one, with Bermudez attempting a flying knee from the get go against Elkins. Bermudez scored a good left hand on the counter as Darre rushed forward, before a slip from Bermudez allowed Elkins to take the back for a moment or so. Elkins ducked under an overhand right, dragging Bermudez to the canvas, immediately grabbing back control as he looked for a rear-naked choke, with Bermudez scrambling back to the feet. Decent first round for Darren Elkins.

Second round of the co headliner seen Dennis almost cut off the octagon straight away, before Elkins steered away, forcing Bermudez to swing wildly wide of the mark. Elkins utilised the bodylock to wrap up Dennis who just barely missed a spinning back fist counter. Bermudez pushed though cleanly to snatch his premier takedown of the bout. Elkins once again forced Dennis Bermudez to the canvas with another takedown, really highlighting his incredible wrestling prowess.

The third and final round really forced Dennis Bermudez to make something happen, as we witnessed a fairly dominant second round for Darren Elkins. Bermudez found a home for a big right hand as the fight continued, but was still unable to string together any noticeable combinations. 'The Menace' was starting to let his hands fly in the closing stages of this one as the buzzer sounded to call an end to the this one. The judges handed a split decision victory to Darren Elkins, who picked up a massive career win.
