Ricardo Lamas vs. Jason Knight: What will go down:

Ricardo Lamas may be in reach of a second title surge.
Our featured prelim of UFC 214, sees a mouth watering Featherweight meeting between former title challenger and long time contender Ricardo Lamas, and surging grappler Jason 'The Kid' Knight. This one may prove to be a true Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu matchup, as 'The Bully' Lamas has racked up five submission wins to Knight's thirteen. Lamas most recently secured a guillotine win over Charles Oliveira, while 25 year-old Jason Knight looked impressive on his way to a rare knockout over Chas Skelly.

Chicago native Lamas, is most certainly a main stay in the UFC Featherweight rankings, amassing an impressive 17-5 record including appearances in the WEC and UFC. Lamas has of course faced arguably the greatest 145lber in MMA history in the form of José Aldo, losing via unanimous decision back in 2014. The only only other notable falters in Lamas' career have come against fellow championship chaser Chad Mendes and current divison crown holder Max 'Blessed' Holloway. Despite these losses to the best of the best in the UFC, Lamas had beaten the likes of the aforementioned Oliveira, TUF winner Diego Sanchez and possible title challenger Cub Swanson in his time, along with a knockout win over Erik Koch.

Mississippi star Jason Knight, is currently surging though his fellow Featherweight competition, securing an impressive four consecutive wins, submitting Alex Caceres after a decision win against Dan Hooker. Knight held the Atlas Fighting Featherweight crown before his unsuccessful UFC debut, losing via unanimous decision to sport veteran Tatsuya Kawajiri in late 2015. Currently just about occupying the #15 spot at 145lbs, Knight has a huge opportunity to establish himself even further against top three ranked Lamas, who may edge out Frankie Edgar in terms of a shot at gold with a finish of 'The Kid'.

This one could prove to be an absolute barn burner with both men's aggressive, submission heavy styles, but I would have to give the striking advantage to Ricardo Lamas and maybe the grappling aspect to Knight. The winner hits the big time for sure.

Ricardo Lamas via Submission.
