If you're of the superstitious nature, Khabib 'The Eagle' Nurmagomedov vs. Tony 'El Cucuy' Ferguson, may be the most cursed pairing in recent mixed-martial-arts history. The two lightweight standouts have been scheduled to meet on four separate occasions over the previous handful of years, and on April 18th. in Brooklyn, New York, according to an initial report by ESPN's Brett Okamoto the two will be matchup for a fifth time.

In a tweet by Nurmagomedov's manager and Dominance MMA leader, Ali Abdelaziz, he revealed a snapshot of the bout agreement for the April pay-per-view. With Nurmagomedov's signature signed and sealed, and Ferguson's sure to follow soon, we can expect an official announcement from the promotion in the near future. Undefeated Dagestan native Nurmagomedov, has twice successfully defended the lightweight championship since his vacant title victory over Al Iaquinta in Brooklyn last April, submitting both former multi-division champion, Conor McGregor and former interim champion, Dustin Poirier in Abu Dhabi most recently.

Riding a staggering twelve fight win steak into the highly-anticipated pairing, 10th. Planet Jiu-Jitsu black belt Ferguson, has blitzed all competition ahead of him and his first ever undisputed title challenge in the organization. The slick submission specialist and long slinky boxer, most recently added Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone to his resume, following eye-catching victories over Anthony Pettis, Kevin Lee for interim gold, Brazilian Muay Thai expert, Edson Barboza, and former 155-pound champion, Rafael dos Anjos.

Nurmagomedov vs. Ferguson has fallen to the wayside on four different occasions, with the Sambo practitioner pulling from the first pairing due to injury, and then a lung issue forced Ferguson from a second potential matching. Weight cutting woes hampered a third scheduled bout, and in April of last year, Ferguson tripped on a monitor cable during fight week, completely tearing apart his knee with promotion President, Dana White breaking the news, on April 1st. of all days.
