Roxanne Modafferi Paired With Maycee Barber At UFC 246 In January

The exciting prospect, Maycee Barber, meets a top ten contender in January.

A meeting of flyweight hopefuls has been added to the Ultimate Fighting Championship's premier pay-per-view showing of 2020, as inaugural title challenger, Roxanne 'The Happy Warrior' Modafferi meets with undefeated prospect, Maycee 'The Future' Barber.

Delaware native Modafferi is one of the most experienced mixed-martial-artists among the female ranks in the current day, competing a whopping thirty-nine times over fifteen years. Colorado youngster Barber on the other hand, has made the Octagon walk three times, with flawless results on each occasion, and is a product of Dana White's Tuesday Night Contenders Series. The news was first reported by Mike Bohn and John Morgan from MMA Junkie.

37-year-old Modafferi featured in the very first flyweight title bout against Nicco Montano in 2017, where she dropped a unanimous decision. Modafferi is 1-1 in her most recent outings, picking up a narrow victory over Antonina Shevchenko, the younger sister of division queen, Valentina. Against former Invicta FC flyweight best, Jennifer Maia, Modafferi dropped down the rankings after a unanimous decision loss.

The often outspoken Maycee Barber has grabbed the headlines in recent weeks for her back-and-forth with Paige VanZant as the 21-year-old vies for a shot at the popular Team Quest trainee. Barber has lodged three finishes during her brief stint with the promotion, besting Hannah Cifers, JJ Aldrich and Gillian Robertson in the space of just eleven months, to claim the #10 rank at flyweight.
