Paige VanZant Returns, Draws Amanda Ribas At UFC Fight Night Brasilia

'12 Gauge' Paige VanZant travels to enemy territory for the final bout on her UFC deal.

Paige VanZant will make her Octagon return at UFC Fight Night Brasilia on March 14th., as she draws exciting prospect, Amanda Ribas ahead of the final fight of her current UFC contract. The popular strawweight striker required multiple surgeries on a fractured right forearm after her return the win column via a second round armbar victory over Rachael Ostovich recently, while Brazilian grappler Ribas, handed Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu talent, Mackenzie Dern her first professional defeat at UFC Fight Night Tampa as she moved to 2-0 in the promotion via a unanimous decision triumph. The news of the pairing was first reported by MMA Fighting's Guilherme Cruz late last night.

Paige VanZant, 25, snapped a two fight skid in January, following two losses to Jessica Rose-Clark and Michelle Waterson. The Oregon youngster has openly spoken of her future in the promotion and how the next fight will be the final bout on her contract The Dancing with the Stars feature was briefly linked to a pairing with the undefeated finisher Maycee Barber, with the 21-year-old instead pitted against inaugural flyweight title challenger and sport veteran Roxanne Modafferi on January 18th.

VanZant made a blistering start to her Octagon career, grabbing three straight victories over Kailin Curran, Felice Herrig and Alex Chambers before a submission defeat to future strawweight best, 'Thug' Rose Namajunas. The former Team Alpha MMA trainee then returned from the small screen with a highlight reel switch-kick knockout of 'Rowdy' Bec Rawlings.

It's a return to native roots for the exciting challenger Ribas, who's star rocketed considerably after her three round affair and victory over the previously mentioned Dern. The Minas Gerais native made a successful Octagon bow in June this year, grabbing a rear-naked choke finish over Emily Whitmire, and with her victory over Dern, moved to 7-1 as a professional.
