Former undisputed UFC bantamweight champion, Miesha 'Cupcake' Tate has decided to make a surprising comeback from a November 2016 retirement, as she returns to the Octagon on July 17th. -- matching with veteran division mainstay, Marion 'The Belizean Bruiser' Reneau.

Tate, who called time on her professional mixed martial arts career back in November of 2016 following a unanimous decision loss to one-time title challenger, Raquel Pennington at UFC 205, has since linked up with ONE Championship, where she acts as the promotion's VP.

For Reneau, the 43-year-old Californian is set to make her final professional walk against the returning, Tate -- attempting to end her career on a high note against the former champion, having suffered four consecutive losses. News of the matchup of Tate and Reneau was first reported by ESPN MMA reporter, Brett Okamoto

Snapping her almost five-year retirement, Washington native Tate, looks to rebound to winning-ways following a string of two defeats. Prior to her loss to Pennington, the 34-year-old headlined UFC 200 against current two-weight champion, Amanda Nunes, suffering a first round rear-naked choke in her first attempted bantamweight title defence.

With a record of 18-7, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt is arguably best known for her rivalry with fellow former bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey, snapping two fights under the UFC and Strikeforce banners, as well as a season as opposing coaches on The Ultimate Fighter.

The veteran makes an Octagon return, looking to add to a record that features victories over the likes of Jan Finney, Marloes Coenen, Julie Kedzie, Liz Carmouche, Sara McMann, Jessica Eye, and in her crowning achievement, submitted Holly Holm in the fifth and final round of their UFC 196 clash to lift undisputed bantamweight gold.

Seventeen-fight professional veteran, Reneau has featured twelve times under the UFC's banner since her stint began back at UFC 182 in January of 2015.

With a 5-6(1) promotional resume, the veteran has scored notable victories over the likes of former strawweight champion, incoming flyweight title chaser, Jessica Andrade, as well as Milana Dudieva, Talita Bernardo, and common-opposition, the above-mentioned, McMann.
