A Bellator MMA middleweight title fight between division kingpin, Gegard 'The Dreamcatcher' Mousasi and the #1 ranked contender, John Salter has been booked to headline Bellator 264 on August 13th. -- from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Attempting to lodge his second successful middleweight title defence of his second reign, veteran kickboxing talent, Mousasi defeated former welterweight champion, Douglas Lima in October in the main event of Bellator 250 -- lifting the vacant title following the vacating of past-foe and champion, Rafael Lovato Jr.

Undefeated in his last three consecutively, Salter most recently met with Andrew Kapel at Bellator 244 in August of last year, scoring a third round arm-triangle victory -- which earned him the #1 ranked in the official Bellator MMA rankings. News of the middleweight championship fight was first reported by MMA Junkie reporter, Nolan King.

Mousasi, a six-fight veteran under the Scott Coker-led Bellator banner following his April 2017 departure from the UFC, is in the midst of a two-fight undefeated run since his title loss to the above-mentioned, Lovato Jr.

Prior to his vacant title-winning performance against then-welterweight best, Lima back in October of last year, the Tehran-born veteran managed to take home a win over former UFC light heavyweight titleholder, Lyoto Machida -- via a split decision victory, following a prior unanimous judging loss to the Brazilian back in February 2014.

With a 47-7 professional record from a whopping 56-professional outings, Mousasi is a two-time Bellator middleweight champion, as well as scooping gold under the banners of Cage Warriors, DREAM, and Strikeforce.

Across his decorated career, the 35-year-old has defeated the likes of Hector Lombard, Denis Kang, Melvin Manhoef, Jacare Souza, Mark Hunt, Renato Sobral, Ilir Latifi, Mark Munoz, Dan Henderson, Thiago Santos, Uriah Hall, Vitor Belfort, Chris Weidman, Alexander Shlemenko, Rafael Carvalho, Rory MacDonald, and the aforenoted, Lima.

From his nine-fight stint under the Bellator banner, submission expert, Salter has only ever faltered to common-foe, former champion, Lovato Jr. -- scoring a promotional résumé of 8-1.

With 10-submission wins to go with a further seven knockout victories, Salter has bested the likes of Dustin Jacoby, Brandon Halsey, Kendall Grove, Chidi Njokuani, and Costello Van Steenis.
