Report - Dustin Poirier Signs Bout Agreement To Headline UFC 269 Against Charles Oliveira

Former interim UFC lightweight champion, Dustin 'The Diamond' Poirier has reportedly inked his bout agreement to headline UFC 269 on December 11. from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada -- in an undisputed lightweight title fight against reigning gold holder, Charles 'Do Bronx' Oliveira. 

Poirier, ranked #1 in the official lightweight pile, last featured in the main event of UFC 264 back in July -- taking a first round doctor's stoppage TKO victory over former undisputed featherweight and lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, who suffered a fractured left tibia at the end of the opening round.

For Oliveira, the Sao Paulo finisher lifted the vacant undisputed lightweight title back in May at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas -- stopping former three-time Bellator MMA lightweight champion, Michael Chandler with a second round rallying knockout. 

Sending fans into raptures in the early hours of Monday morning, Poirier tweeted, "Signed, Sealed, Delivered." alluding to his earmarked December title challenge opposite Oliveira.

The Lafayette native scooped the interim lightweight championship back in April 2019, headlining UFC 236 against former featherweight champion and two-time opponent, Max Holloway. Scoring a unanimous decision win, Poirier would go on to challenge then-champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov in a lightweight title unification bout that September in Abu Dhabi, UAE -- suffering a third round rear-naked choke loss.

Recovering from hip surgery following his loss to Khabib, Poirier headlined UFC Vegas 4 in June of last year, taking a Fight of the Year candidate unanimous decision win over Dan Hooker.

Prior to his July win over McGregor, Poirier headlined UFC 257 in January against the Dubliner, taking a second round rematch knockout victory -- becoming the first to stop the Crumlin native with strikes in professional mixed martial arts.

With his second round knockout success against Chandler, Oliveira extended his winning spree to eight consecutive fights; the current lightweight record.

UFC 269 takes place on December 11. -- with Oliveira vs. Poirier slated to join the billing of title fights including a bantamweight title rescheduling between two-weight champion, Amanda Nunes and contender, Julianna Pena, as well as a flyweight trilogy title bout between Brandon Moreno and former division kingpin, Deiveson Figueiredo.
