A featherweight matchup between the returning #7 ranked contender, Josh Emmett, and recent headliner, the #9 rated Dan Ige, has been booked for the already piled-high UFC 269 card on December 11. -- with a location or venue for the event yet to be determined by the organization.

For Emmett, the December showcase will mark his first Octagon walk since June of last year where he earned Fight of the Night honors alongside Shane Burgos in a unanimous decision victory at UFC Vegas 3. Emmett was sidelined since the bout due to an ACL tear suffered in the bout as well as a slew of other leg injuries.

Headlining UFC Vegas 29 in June of this year, Ige suffered a unanimous decision victory over former title challenger, Chan Sung Jung in a main event slot. BJPENN.com reporter, Cole Shelton was first to report the pairing of Emmett and Ige.

Undefeated in his last three successive UFC walks, 16-2 striker, Emmett managed to add the New York native, Burgos to a run that includes a pair of knockout victories over both Mirsad Bektic and promotional veteran, Michael Johnson.

Approaching his tenth Octagon appearance, Emmett made a successful featherweight division return against Felipe Arantes back in October 2017, before stopping one-time featherweight title challenger, the now-retired, Ricardo Lamas with a massive first round knockout at UFC Fight Night Winnipeg in December of that year.

15-4 as a professional, Ige, a product of Dana White's Contender Series back in July 2017, has headlined twice under the promotion's banner in a pair of decision defeats against both Jung and Calvin Kattar.

Sandwiched between his headlining losses, Ige lodged an impressive 22-second knockout win over Gavin Tucker back in March, which earned him a Performance of the Night bonus. Amongst his other Octagon victories, Ige managed to best the likes of Danny Henry, common-foe, Bektic, as well as Edson Barboza in a close split decision victory.

UFC 269 takes place on December 11. -- with an undisputed lightweight title fight between Charles Oliveira, and the #1 ranked former interim champion, Dustin Poirier slated to take main event status at the showcase.
