An intriguing lightweight showdown between the surging contender, Islam Makhachev, and fellow streaking grappling ace, Thiago Moises has been added to a UFC event on July 17th. -- with a location or venue for the showcase yet to be determined by the organization.

Extending his undefeated streak to a massive seven consecutive fights at UFC 259 in March at the UFC Apex facility, Makhachev managed an eventual third round arm-triangle submission win over Elevation Fight Team mainstay, Drew Dober.

For American Top Team Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace, Moises, he's won three on the trot, most recently besting Alexander Hernandez in a unanimous decision performance at UFC Vegas 20 in February. News of the lightweight clash was first reported by ESPN MMA reporter, Brett Okamoto

American Kickboxing Academy mainstay, Makhachev snapped an almost two-year hiatus with his win over March, with his most recent victory prior to that UFC Apex facility display coming in Abu Dhabi, UAE in September of 2019 at UFC 242, where he took home a unanimous decision win over Moises' compatriot, fellow grappling maestro, Davi Ramos.

A nine-fight promotion veteran, the 29-year-old Dagestani sambo specialist has dropped just one Octagon defeat during that run -- in the form of a first round knockout loss to Adriano Martins back at UFC 192.

In his eight Octagon triumphs, Makhachev, who has been widely tipped for eventual lightweight title success has scored wins over Leo Kuntz, Chris Wade, Nik Lentz, Gleison Tibau, Kajan Johnson, Arman Tsarukyan, as well as the above-mentioned, Ramos and Dober.

A product of Dana White's Contender Series Brazil 3 back in August of 2018, Moises has dropped just two defeats since his move to the UFC, against upcoming UFC 262 co-headliner, Beneil Dariush and Damir Ismagulov. Prior to his win over Hernandez, Moises bested veterans, Bobby Greene, Michael Johnson, as well as a judging win over Kurt Holobaugh in between his above noted losses.
