An all-Brazilian showdown between former UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo and long-time bantamweight contender, Pedro Munhoz is currently in the works to land at UFC 265 on August 7th. -- with a location or venue for the pay-per-view event yet to be determined by the organization.

Former featherweight kingpin, Aldo last featured in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 16 last December where he returned to the winner's enclosure via a unanimous decision win over Ecuadorian contender, Marlon Vera over three rounds. The victory came as the Manaus native's first at bantamweight from three outings.

For compatriot, Munhoz, the 34-year-old rematched Jimmie Rivera in his most recent Octagon outing -- taking home a unanimous decision win of her own at UFC Vegas 20 in February. The victory saw Munhoz avenge a prior November 2015 split judging loss to the Tiger Schulmann trainee. News of the eye-catching all-Brazilian affair was first reported by Combate reporters, Ana Hissa, and Raphael Marinho

With his win over Vera, Aldo earned the #5 rank in the official 135lbs pile. The outing came as the second of 2020 for the Brazilian, following a vacant bantamweight title challenge opposite former champion, Petr Yan on 'Fight Island' back in July of last year at UFC 251. Despite turning in an impressive display, Aldo was eventually stopped in the fifth and final round due to early ground strikes.

For Munhoz, the Sao Paulo native, who plys his trade at American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida -- he headlined last year in August at UFC Vegas 7 -- finding himself on the wrong end of a close split decision loss to common-opposition, former lightweight titleholder, Frankie Edgar. The win over Rivera snapped a two-fight skid for the #8 ranked Munhoz, who had dropped a prior unanimous decision defeat to current bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling.

UFC 265 takes place on August 7th. -- with a location or venue for the event yet to be determined by the promotion. Featuring at the event, Aldo and Munhoz's compatriot, two-weight champion, Amanda Nunes who returns to the bantamweight limit in an attempt to defend her championship against Julianna Pena.
