Former UFC middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold has given his thoughts on the ghastly compound fracture suffered by former-foe and fellow one-time champion, Chris Weidman, claiming that the injury was suffered as a result of Weidman having "feminine shins" according to Rockhold.

Featuring as the last non-title bout on the UFC 261 card in April, former middleweight titleholder, Weidman clashed with Uriah Hall in a rematch, however, less than twenty seconds into the opening round, suffered a gruesome fracture of both his right tibia and fibula after he saw a leg kick checked.

Attempting to step back and put his weight back on his right leg following the snapping of his tibia and fibula, Weidman suffered a devastating compound fracture.

Currently undergoing physical therapy following a successful surgical procedure in which a titanium rod was inserted through his right knee in a bid to stabilize his fibula, Weidman has since returned to home following the surgery.

Giving his thoughts on Weidman's horrific leg fracture, Rockhold spoke with The Schmo recently and claimed that "feminine shins" were to blame for the Baldwin native's injury.

"I wish him (Chris Weidman) all the best," Rockhold said. "That's (the injury) a tough one. I don't know what it's like to have those little feminine shins. I don't know. Because I broke mine, first kick of the fight, but somehow (it) didn't break. Just that strong."

Rockhold failed to elaborate on claims that he broke his own leg in a fight following the first kick he threw, however, a leg injury suffered in training ahead of his scheduled title defence against Weidman back at UFC 230 forced him out of the November 2018 re-run at Madison Square Garden.

Hoping to score an Octagon return himself before the close of this summer, Rockhold has claimed that contenders within the promotion's top-ten rankings have rejected pairings against him.

"It's really about fighting someone who's going to fight," Rockhold said during a recent appearance on the Real Quick With Mike Swick podcast. "I need to fight a top ten guy who's ready to sack up and ready to fight. There's already multiple people in the top ten making excuses why they don't want to fight me. Who the f*ck are you to turn down a fight? Where's your entitlement and what you think you have?"

"My last fight (at middleweight), it's against Yoel Romero missing weight for a world title in Perth (Australia) two and a half years ago," Rockhold continued. "I've left the rankings, but I haven't really left the rankings. I'm still there just as much as I want to be and everyone knows who I am and what I can do, and I think everyone's just making excuses (as) to why they don't want to fight me right now. We've been hunting down the list and trying to find something credible, something fun, something exciting."

Rockhold's most recent Octagon appearance came in the form of a light heavyweight division bow against now-champion, Jan Blachowicz back at UFC 239 in July of 2019 -- where he suffered a brutal second round knockout in which he broke his jaw. The Santa Cruz native has since been recovering from surgery on his rotator cuff and labrum.
