Conor McGregor Due In Court On October 11th. In Connection To April 6th. Assault

According to the independent.ie, former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion, 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor is due to appear in front of a sitting at Dublin District Court on Friday, October 11th. in connection to an assault which occurred in Drimnagh's Marble Arch pub in April earlier this year. The polarizing Crumlin native was involved in an altercation with a man in his 50s earlier this year, with CCTV footage appearing to show McGregor punch the pub goer before being escorted away.
McGregor, 31, is facing an assault charge under section Two of the Non-Fatal Offenses Against the Person Act and can receive a maximum sentence of six months in prison if convicted, but a stint in prison appears highly unlikely. A fine of one-thousand euros can also be issued to the Dubliner. The Straight Blast Gym product appeared in an interview with ESPN's Ariel Helwani recently, where he issued his first statement since the April 6th. incident.
"I mean, in reality, it doesn't matter what happened there, I was in the wrong. That man deserved to enjoy his time in the pub without having it end the way it did, and although, five months ago it was, I tried to make amends and I made amends back then, that does not even matter, I was in the wrong. I must come here before you and take accountability and take responsibility, I owe it to the people that have been supporting me, I owe it to my mother and father, my family. I owe it to the people who trained me in martial arts, that's not who I am, that's not the reason why I got into martial arts, or study in combat sports, the reason I got into it was to defend against that type of scenario, so to see that, and although months ago (it happened), I have been making steps and continually making steps to do better and be better, to see it (the video), It's like a dagger into my heart as a young martial artist. I'm just here to own up to that, and move on, and carry on and face what's coming with it."
The former 'champ champ' last featured in the Octagon at UFC 229 in October last year, where he lost for the second time in the promotion, against arch-rival Khabib Nurmagomedov in a lightweight championship clash.
This follows a throng of infringements McGregor has had with the law in recent years. He was involved in an altercation with a man in Miami earlier this year, with CCTV footage appearing to show McGregor stomp on the man's mobile phone. Another incident occurred last year during UFC 223 fight week in Brooklyn, where McGregor threw a moving dolly at a bus containing red-corner fighters and the previously mentioned Nurmagomedov. McGregor was also twice caught on two different speeding charges in November last year and the the previous November, with the latter resulting in a six month driving disqualification.
