Then lightweight best Edgar seals supremacy in his rubber-match against TUF alumni Maynard as he makes the second defense of his 155-pound crown via a fourth round stoppage. In a co-main event slot, inagural featherweight champion Jose Aldo meets Kenny Florian with the 145-pound title up for grabs. Brazilian pioneer Aldo secures his second title defense also, via a rather one-sided unanimous decision. The charismatic Chael Sonnen also featured in a middleweight contest, taking on former WEC light heavyweight champion Brian Stann. With his arm-triangle victory over Stann, Sonnen met future middleweight champion Michael Bisping in a title eliminator next.
In a featherweight meeting, Nam Pham met with Leonard Garcia once more, and in a much more clear-cut unanimous decision, Pham handed Garcia the second loss of his five fight losing streak. In our main card opener of the evening, longtime lightweight contender Joe Lauzon clashed with the heavy-hitting Melvin Guillard, picking up a quick-fire rear-naked choke in the opening minute of the premier frame.
In a two fight Preliminary card, future welterweight title hopeful, Demian Maia picked up his last win at middleweight, securing a unanimous decision victory over 2007 Strikeforce Middleweight Grand Prix Champion Jorge 'The Brazilian' Santiago. Maia would go on to lose to Chris Weidman in his next 185-pound walk, before picking up three straight wins a division lower. In a lightweight meeting, future division best Anthony Pettis continued his run to the title with a close decision triumph over Jeremy Stephens.
Future two time heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic was one half of our featured Facebook Prelim, as he made a successful promotional debut with a unanimous decision win over Califonia's Joey Beltran. In the first of his three fight skid with the promotion, Zhang Tiequan suffered a decision loss to the steely featherweight striker Darren Elkins. The now retired Aaron Simpson scored a decision win over the talented grappler Eric Schafer in our second fight of the night. In his final win before retirement two years later, Mike Massenzio defeated former WEC 205-pound best Steve Cantwell.
