Tito Ortiz secures a perfect trilogy over Ken Shamrock thirteen year's ago today.
October 10th. 2006, Tito Ortiz seals supremacy for a third time against long time rival Ken Shamrock in Florida, as the pair headline UFC Fight Night 6.5 on a star studded card. The former light heavyweight best Ortiz, is widely recognised for his trilogy shutout with fellow mixed-martial-arts pioneer Shamrock, where over the period of four years, 'The Huntington Beach Bad Boy' scored three knockout victories over the Lions Den staple. Ortiz's ties with the Shamrock duo go back as far as 1999, with Frank scoring a first round submission finish over Ortiz before the turn of the century.

In our co-main event feature, veteran finisher and The Ultimate Fighter 3 victor Kendall Grove added another stoppage to his resume as he forced a submission from Chris Price due to elbow strikes. The victory for Grove extended his winning run to three, ahead of a win over the talented submission artist Alan Belcher.

Middleweight challenger Jason MacDonald also added yet another submission to his record, as he triangled Ed Herman. After his 2012 retirement, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt had racked up nineteen separate submission victories. In our main card opener, Matt Hamill continued his perfect start in professional mixed-martial-arts, as he landed a unanimous decision victory over Seth Petruzelli.

A featured Preliminary clash between former Strikeforce 170 pound champion Nate Marquardt and late replacement Crafton Wallace finished off a five fight Preliminary card. At the time of the matchup, Marquardt had claimed the Pancrase middleweight crown and was surging through the ranks of the UFC ahead of his title tilt against Anderson Silva at UFC 73 the following year. In a submission heavy card, Peruvian Jiu-Jitsu player Tony DeSouza locked up a kimura on Dustin Hazelett to pick up his final victory of his second stint in the organization.

Rory Singer also scored his final promotional victory that night, as he picked up a three round unanimous decision win over Josh Haynes. One-time UFC welterweight title challenger Thiago 'Pitbull' Alves not only returned to winning ways following a loss to Jon Fitch, as he overcame John Alessio in the first of a seven fight undefeated streak. The well rounded Marcus Davis made his first walk to the Octagon in the card's curtain-raiser as he stopped Forrest Petz with an opening round guillotine.
