Kevin Lee Returns To Lightweight, Meets Gregor Gillespie At UFC 244

The Detriot native who has recently tested welterweight waters against former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos, but fell victim to a fourth round arm-triangle in his second straight defeat in the promotion. The 27-year-old also cut ties with head coach Dewey Cooper in the last couple of months, explaining on a recent appearance on the JRE how he would spend time travelling to gyms to find a new permanent team. Settling with Tristar Gym in Canada, Firas Zahabi has become the new head coach to the prospect, who holds wins over Edson Barboza, Michael Chiesa and Francisco Trinaldo at lightweight.
It's a return home for lightweight contender Gregor Gillespie, as he books his place on the New York card, meeting arguably high most high-profile challenge to date. Displaying some eye-catching wrestling and grappling, the NCAA Division I wrestler has finished all but one opponent during his brief three year stint with the organization, most recently stopping the gritty Yancy Mederios with strikes in January.
UFC 244 takes place from Madison Square Garden on November 2nd. with a mouth-watering welterweight meeting between Jorge 'Gamebred' Masvidal and Nate Diaz taking headlining status for the one time BMF championship. Darren Till takes a co-main event slot in his middleweight debut against highly dangerous boxer Kelvin Gastelum. Former two-time welterweight title challenger Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson returns to MSG in an attempt to return to winning ways, as he clashes with rising contender Vicente Luque. Brazilian striker Johnny Walker looks to continue his timely rise through the ranks as he takes on Corey Anderson in a high stakes light heavyweight match, while former heavyweight title challenger Derrick Lewis meets Bulgarian heavy hitter Blagoy Ivanov.
A potential flyweight title eliminator between Katlyn Chookagian and Jennifer Maia is expected to land in 'The Big Apple', while the undefeated middleweight finisher Edmen Shahbazyan has been confirmed to take on Poland's Krzysztof Jotko. A featherweight clash between Julio Arce and Hakeem Dawodu has recently been matched while welterweights Lyman Good and Chance Rencountre throw down.
