A high-stakes light heavyweight clash, initially scheduled to headline UFC Fight Night Nebraska on April 25th. - will now taking curtain-closing honours on the UFC's Fight Night event on May 13th. in Jacksonville, Florida.

Former title challengers, Anthony 'Lionheart' Smith, and Glover Teixeira will finally lock horns, with win-streaks on the line. Corpus Cristi born all-rounder, Smith, recently rebounded from his title defeat to Jon Jones, with a statement submission of fellow former title challenger, Alexander Gustafsson in June of last year in Stockholm. Brazilian veteran, Teixeira, added former Fight Nights Global champion, Nikita Krylov to his win column toward the end of last year, extending his surge to three outings in the process. News of the rebooked headliner was initially reported by MMA Junkie writer, Mike Bohn.

Smith, has spent two stints in the UFC but has really emerged as a polished contender at light heavyweight in the previous two years. The 31-year-old made a statement with finishes of former champions, Rashad Evans, and Shogun Rua, before stopping Volkan Oezdemir with elbows. When pitted with champion Jon Jones at UFC 235 last March, Smith was comfortably overthrown for almost all five rounds on his way to a unanimous decision loss. Ahead of his potential title earning meeting with Teixeira, Smith maintains he can make the improvements and alterations necessary to dethrone Jones in a rematch.

We've witnessed a certain career resurgence of 2014 title challenger, Glover Texeira in recent outings. The Minas Gerais native has stepped over prospects, Karl Roberson, and Moldova's Ion Cuțelaba since last January - adding Krylov to that hitlist in September. Teixeira currently sits at #6 in the light heavyweight ranks, and a victory over the posied Anthony Smith may prove more than enough to warrant a second title tilt versus Jon Jones.

The UFC event on May 13th. will take place at the VyStar Arena in Jacksonville, Florida - behind a closed gate, with Smith vs. Teixeira serving as the showcase's main event.
