This afternoon, former UFC interim lightweight champion, Tony 'El Cucuy' Ferguson sent a major statement to both the undisputed gold-holder, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and May 9th. opponent, Justin Gaethje. While neither Khabib or Gaethje is yet to comment on Ferguson's decision to tip the scales at 155-pounds, former two-weight world champion, Conor McGregor had some words for the Oxnard-based contender instead.
Ferguson, who was scheduled to headline the since cancelled UFC 249 card tomorrow night against Khabib first, and then Gaethje, elected to cut-weight, and this evening, weighed in at 155-pounds on the nose. Ferguson's decision to endure the effects of weight cutting isn't entirely over, however; in just over three weeks time, he meets Justin Gaethje for interim lightweight gold.
Taking to his official Twitter account on Friday night, McGregor uploaded a picture of Ferguson during his weight-cut, before alluding to a successful potential outing against the 36-year-old in the future.
"Hahahajaj. You will be bet to the absolute nucleus pulposus when I get you, kid."

After some research, the certain, "nucleus pulposus" McGregor is referring to, is "the soft filling located in the centre of the vertebral disc."
McGregor then poked fun at former opponent and fierce-foe, Khabib Nurmagomedov, inviting the stranded Dagestani native to the weighing scales.
"Congrats on an excellent victory @TonyFergusonXT!! Now let's have the other guy on the scale please 😂"

McGregor is yet to feature in the Octagon since his successful return from a fifteen-month hiatus in January - where he lodged a forty-second knockout over Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone. An interesting aspect of Ferguson's clash with Gaethje is the fact that the promotion was tentatively putting plans together for McGregor and Gaethje to meet at an event this summer after the two exchanged verbals over the course of recent months.
