Reports emerged last night regarding the imminent signing of reigning GLORY Kickboxing light heavyweight champion, Alex 'Po Atan' Pereira's with the UFC. And this afternoon, reports have detailed how the Brazilian striker is slated to make his promotional debut at UFC 268 on November 5. at Madison Square Garden in New York -- clashing with Greek knockout-artist, Andreas Michailidis.
Slated to take co-headlining status this weekend at GLORY 78: Arnhem -- the 34-year-old meets with Artem Vakitov in a light heavyweight championship rematch, having previously notched a split decision win over the Russian at GLORY 77: Rotterdam back in January.
Per a report from BJPENN.com reporter, Alfredo Zullino this afternoon, Pereira has already been booked for his Octagon bow ahead of his full-time transition to professional mixed martial arts, as he draws two-fight UFC veteran, Michaildis.
Boasting a stunning 33-6 professional kickboxing record, Sao Paulo-Born striker, Pereira has competed four times in professional mixed martial arts -- establishing a 3-1 record.
The Brazilian last featured at LFA 95 last November -- stopping Justin Powell with a massive counter left hook opening round knockout win. Pereira was expected to feature on Dana White's Contender Series back in 2018, however, contractual obligations to GLORY Kickboxing prevented him from competing.
Across his professional kickboxing career, Pereira has lifted GLORY middleweight gold, and is the promotion's current light heavyweight champion. With 21-knockouts littered on his impressive résumé -- Pereira has bested the likes of Jason Wilnis, Dustin Jacoby, Simon Marcus (x2), Yousri Belgaroui.
Pereira also holds two career victories over current UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya -- taking a rather contentious decision win over the middleweight kingpin back in April 2016 -- before becoming the first competitor to finish Adesanya across combat sports with a huge rallying knockout back in March 2017.
13-4 as a professional from 17 professional walks, Athens striker, Michailidis has managed a 1-1 Octagon record since his debut outing back in July of last year at UFC Fight Island 1. The Greece striker dropped a late first round knockout loss against fellow debutante, Modestas Bukauskas -- before returning at UFC Vegas 25 in May with a unanimous decision win over KB Bhullar.
UFC 268 takes place on November 5. from Madison Square Garden in New York -- with a welterweight title rematch between reigning division kingpin, Kamaru Usman and the former interim titleholder and the #1 ranked contender, Colby Covington taking headlining status.
