Former two-weight UFC champion, 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor attended the VMA Awards in Brooklyn, New York last night, where the Dubliner was involved in an altercation with music artist, Machine Gun Kelly on the red carpet.

McGregor, who last featured professionally at UFC 264 back in July against three-time opponent, Dustin Poirier, suffered an opening round TKO doctor's stoppage after he fractured his left tibia.

In the time since, the 33-year-old has undergone a successful surgical procedure to address the injury, and has undergone rehabilitation on his leg injury in Beverley Hills, California.

Footage appeared last night following the altercation, which appears to show the two involved in a verbal altercation on the red carpet before security corral the pair after the Dubliner appears to attempt to charge toward the musician, with Kelly's girlfriend, Megan Fox corralled and removed by security swiftly.

In a report from TMZ, McGregor is alleged to have asked Kelly, real name, Colson Baker for a picture which was ultimately denied. The report then details how Kelly had pushed McGregor who stumbled backward, spilling his drink, before footage shows the latter throwing his drink in the direction of the musician.

After the situation was dealt with by security at the venue, Kelly and his girlfriend, Fox walked the red carpet before then entering the venue. As for McGregor, the ex-lightweight and featherweight champion was handed back his walking cane, before himself and his fiancée, Dee Devlin also entered the venue.

Releasing an official statement to MMA Fighting, McGregor's spokesperson, Karen Kessler, denied the her client had asked Kelly for a photograph, and that he did not know who the musician was.

"Conor McGregor did not ask anyone for a picture, nor did he instigate this incident," The statement read. "He does not know Machine Gun Kelly (Colson Baker), outside of the fact he attended Conor's fight this past July."

Himself speaking with Entertainment Tonight in which he addressed the incident, McGregor denied knowing who Kelly is, claiming that he doesn't fight "Vanilla Ice white rappers".

"Nothing happened with me, I only fight real fighters," McGregor said. "People that actually fight. I certainly don't fight little Vanilla Ice white rappers. I don't even know the guy. I don't know anything about him, except that he's with Megan Fox."
