Report - Dominick Cruz vs. Pedro Munhoz Targeted For UFC 269 On December 11th.

A bantamweight matchup between former two-time division champion, Dominick 'The Dominator' Cruz and the #9 ranked, Pedro 'The Young Punisher' Munhoz is currently in the works to feature at UFC 269 on December 11. from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Former two-time undisputed bantamweight champion, Cruz snapped his two-fight losing skid at UFC 258 in March, taking home a close split judging win over Casey Kenney. The victory came as Cruz's first since his reclaimed the UFC bantamweight championship from fellow former two-time gold holder, T.J. Dillashaw UFC Fight Night Boston back in January 2016.

For American Top Team staple, Munhoz, the Brazilian makes his third Octagon walk of the year, hoping to return to the winner's enclosure following a co-headlining bout with former undisputed featherweight champion, Jose Aldo at UFC 265 in August in Houston, Texas. MMA Fighting reporters, Guilherme Cruz and Damon Martin were first to report the targeted matchup.

#11 ranked bantamweight contender, Cruz returned to the Octagon back in May of last year for the first time in over three years, where he replaced the aforenoted, Aldo in a short notice title bout with former two-weight champion, Henry Cejudo. Suffering a third round knockout loss to the Olympic gold medalist, Cruz suffered his second consecutive loss following a December 2016 unanimous decision title loss to common-foe, Cody Garbrandt.

The San Diego veteran is a 26-fight professional veteran, and holds a 23-3 record. Cruz is also a former WEC bantamweight champion as well as a two-time UFC bantamweight kingpin, and has managed notable victories over the likes of Ian McCall, Joseph Benavidez (x2), Brian Bowles, Scott Jorgensen, Urijah Faber (x2), Demetrious Johnson, Takeya Mizugaki, as well as the aforenoted, Dillashaw.

35-year-old Sao Paulo native, Munhoz revered to the losing column against Aldo last month, after he avenged a split decision loss to Jimmie Rivera at UFC Vegas 20 in February, taking home his own unanimous judging triumph. 

A 16-fight Octagon veteran, Munhoz stopped the above mentioned, Garbrandt with a high-profile Fight of the NIght knockout stoppage at UFC 235, adding the Ohio native to a winning résumé which includes the likes of Brett Johns, Rob Font, Justin Scoggins, Jeff Curran, and Bryan Caraway to name a few.
