Valentina Shevchenko earns Nunes rematch with armbar finish:

The main event of UFC Fight Night Denver sees an interesting style matchup between Valentina Shevchenko and immense grappler Julianna Peña in a UFC Women's Bantamweight title eliminator. Shevchenko has already faced reigning champ Nunes, but was on the wrong side of a decision, while Peña, looks to continue her unbeaten run in the UFC. The opening of five scheduled rounds seen Peña engaging with a clinch at the fence, landing some good knees to the body of 'Bullet'. A fantastic trip from Shevchenko seen her take the fight to the ground, and wide up in side control, before Peña made it to her feet, and again going to them knee strikes to the body of Valentina. Another huge trip from Shevchenko again resulted in a takedown, and some hammer fists from the #1 Shevchenko. Valentina must be very cautious with Peña's scrambling and ground and pound, particularly from full mount. Peña looked to setup an armbar attempt from the bottom after a sweep, but Shevchenko defended till the end of the round. Peña complained of an injured right shoulder at her corner, which may prove to be of interest as this fight continues. Peña again engaged in the clinch at the cage, desperate for a takedown, with Shevchenko defending well so far, before a double leg proved to difficult to defend for Shevchenko, as a second takedown landed for 'The Venezuelan Vixen' Peña then demonstrated her ground and pound, but this time from full guard. Shevchenko then similarly to Peña in the first, looked for an armbar from the bottom, and locked it up tight, as Julianna looked to step over but Valentina forced the tap to give Peña her first loss in the octagon.
