Robbie Lawler splits from American Top Team:
Former UFC Welterweight champ, 'Ruthless' Robbie Lawler has left American Top Team (ATT) after almost 4 years with the team. Lawler was unsuccessful in his UFC 201 title defence against Tyron Woodley, losing via first round KO, but suffered significant punishment in the two previous bouts against Carlos Condit and Rory MacDonald on his way to wins over the two title challengers. Lawler spent 13 years at Miletich Fighting Systems, under the reknowed Pat Miletich, with whom he won the EliteXC Middleweight title, finishing Murilo 'Ninja' Rua, the older brother of former UFC Light Heavyweight champ and PRIDE Middleweight champion Maurício 'Shogun' Rua. Lawler who is yet to be matched against an opponent since his loss to Woodley, turned down a UFC 205 bout with Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone, telling how he didn't feel ready to step back into action, understandable after his most recent title defences. It is still unknown which camp Lawler will choose for his next battle, with many suggesting Jackson Wink MMA Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico as the next step for Lawler.
