A featherweight title bout between reigning champion, Amanda 'The Lioness' Nunes, and number-one contender, Felicia 'Fee-Nom- Spencer has been matched for UFC 250 on May 9th. in São Paulo, Brazil. Nunes will attempt to make the first defence of her 145-pound championship following her triumph over Cris Cyborg in December 2018. Former Invicta FC best Spencer returned to the win column against Zarah Fairn dos Santos in February - earning her premier promotional title tilt in the process. News of the pairing was initially reported by ESPN staff writer, Brett Okamoto.
Two-weight world champion, Nunes will make her first Octagon walk on home soil since her demolition of then bantamweight challenger, Raquel Pennington back at UFC 224 in 2018. A victory for Nunes would extend her already remarkable win streak to eleven fights, following her rematch victory over Germaine de Randamie in December. The 31-year-old has arguably the greatest résumé among her female peers in the sport. The Bahia born striker has handed defeats to Ronda Rousey, Cris Cyborg, Holly Holm, Miesha Tate, Valentina Shevchenko (x2), Germaine de Randamie (x2), and Julia Budd.
Ontario born finisher, Spencer, has already made a huge impression despite only making the Octagon walk three times. The former Invicta FC featherweight gold-holder debuted with a rear-naked choke victory over Megan Anderson, before dropping a decision defeat to Cyborg in an admirable showing. As mentioned earlier, Spencer returned to the win column at UFC Fight Night Norfolk - battering Zarah Fairn with ground-and-pound to earn her spot against Nunes.
UFC 250 is expected to take place on May 9th. in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from the Ginásio do Ibirapuera - with a bantamweight title bout between Henry Cejudo, and José Aldo expected to headline the event. At 135-pounds, Ketlen Vieira looks to return to winning ways when she meets with Marion Reneau, while Bethe Correia also makes her return, as she tackles Pannie Kianzad. In heavyweight action, Augusto Sakai clashes with Blagoy Ivanov. Former UFC heavyweight champion, Fabrício Werdum also makes his return, as he meets with veteran grappling extraordinaire, Aleksei Oleinik. In a trilogy meeting, Brazilian icons, Shogun Rua and Minotouro Nogueira are expected to meet.
