Diego Ferreira returns, meets Drew Dober at UFC Oklahoma City in May

Surging lightweight contender, Carlos Diego Ferreira (17-2), and recent big winner, Drew Dober (22-9), are expected to meet in a pivotal 155-pound affair at UFC Fight Night Oklahoma City on May 2nd. - according to MMA Junkie staff writer, Farah Hannoun.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace, Ferreira, last competed at UFC 246 in January - picking up a career-highlight victory over former UFC and WEC lightweight best, Anthony 'Showtime' Pettis. Off the back of the win, Ferreira earned the #11 rank at 155-pounds. Nebraska native, Dober, also featured at UFC 246 - where he secured an opening-round knockout over prospect, Nasrat Haqparast.

Ferreira, 35, has managed wins in his last six Octagon outings, including stoppages of Jared Gordan, and Kyle Nelson - with decision judgings coming against Mairbek Taisumov, Rustam Khabilov, and Olivier Aubin-Mercier. The streaking contender has steadily approached the top ten of lightweight for some time now - having dropped just two professional losses since his debut back in 2011. The Amazonas native lost to fellow grappling ace, Beneil Dariush firstly, before a knockout loss to Dustin Poirier in 2015.

Dober, 31, has managed two eye-catching knockouts in his last two walks, including the stoppage of German-born youngster, Haqparast. Before that, Dober had secured an opening minute win over Marco Polo Reyes. The Elevation Fight Team trainee joined the promotion's rank back in 2013, and despite starting with two defeats, has managed a respectable eight victories since. The former welterweight challenger has managed notable wins over former WEC best, Jamie Varner, Josh Burkman, Frank Camacho, and Scott Holtzman.

UFC Fight Night Oklahoma City takes place on May 2nd. from the Chesapeake Energy Arena - and is expected to be headlined by a middleweight meeting of former division champion, Chris Weidman, and submission-specialist, Jack Hermansson. In strawweight action, Cláudia Gadelha takes on Marina Rodriguez, while former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski tackles Philipe Lins. At light heavyweight, Ed Herman returns against Da Un Jung, while Sarah Alpar takes on Vaness Melo at 135-pounds. At featherweight, Bryce Mitchell meets with Charles Rosa, while grappling ace Ryan Hall returns against Ricardo Lamas. At 205-pounds, Devin Clark takes on Alonzo Menifeld.
