Conor McGregor donates €1 million to Irish hospitals battling COVID-19 pandemic

Former two-weight world champion, 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor, followed up yesterday's firey address to the state and the powers that be this morning - as he pledged €1 million to hospitals in the Leinster area, battling the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Dubliner revealed a direct message exchange with Irish minister for finance, Paschal Donohoe, detailing how he had made the donation of €1 million worth of personal protection equipment to St. James, Mater, Beaumont, Vincents, and Tallaght hospitals. McGregor, 31, called for a complete lockdown of the country in a social media post on Tuesday afternoon, as current cases on the island continue to rise, and currently, sit at 1,329. McGregor also called for unity across the country and encouraged social distancing as the novel coronavirus pandemic continues to spread.

"Hello Paschal. Thank you for the message. I have used my platforms multiple times since this has began (sic). First encouraging hand washing etiquette/not touching face, plus keeping distance. Then before the weekend I urged people to stay vigilant and stay indoors. With the weather and a drop in cases I felt temptation would be high. Then after seeing the rise in cases, plus out lax efforts in social distancing, with all our day spot locations packed to the brim. I went further and made the video."

"Today I am purchasing myself, €1 million euro worth of personal protective equipment to be deployed to all fighting hospitals in the Leinster region. Our most affected region, to this date. St. James, Mater, Tallaght, Beaumont, Vincent's. Where would we be without these brave men and women, I do not know. May God bless over them and keep them safe."
