Michael Chandler vs. Benson Henderson II headlines Bellator 244

A lightweight rematch between former champion, Michael Chandler, and Benson 'Smooth' Henderson has been announced as the headliner for Bellator 244 on June 6th. in Chicago, Illinois - per an official press release from the promotion.

Missouri native, Chandler, last defeated Sidney Outlaw in a short-notice pairing, in his first fight since losing the lightweight crown to Patricio 'Pitbull'. Henderson on the other hand, successfully extended his winning streak to four fights at Bellator Dublin last September - lodging a decision win over Myles Jury.

33-year-old promotion veteran, Chandler, is entering his tenth year under the Bellator banner, where he's held the 155-pound crown on three separate occasions. The renowned NCAA Division I All-American wrestler has managed notable victories over Eddie Alvarez in memorable meetings, Patricky 'Pitbull', Patricio 'Pitbull', Akihiro Gono, Derek Campos, Brandon Girtz, Brent Primus, Goiti Yamauchi to name a few. In his 2016 pairing with Henderson, Chandler picked up a razor-thin split decision win over the MMA Lab product.

36-year-old grappling ace, Henderson, made the transition to the ranks of Bellator back in 2016 - following lightweight title success with the UFC. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt has lodged an incredible eleven submission wins, over the likes of Roger Huerta, Brandon Thatch, Rustam Khabilov, Jamie Varner, 'Cowboy' Cerrone, and Anthony Njoukani. The Colorado native has managed recent wins over Huerta, Saad Awad, and, Adam Piccolotti.

Bellator 244 takes place on June 6th. from Chicago, Illinois.
