'Cowboy' Cerrone and Robbie Lawler said to be off UFC 213:
It seems we will have to wait for this pairing once again. |
Cerrone has seen incredible success at Welterweight, picking up 4 consecutive wins, before he was steamrolled by Jorge 'Gamebred' Masvidal at UFC Fight Night Denver last January. With two headkick KO's in his last three contests, Cerrone has evolved his game from much more than just a talented grappler, to a deadly knockout artist, securing stunning KO wins over Melvin Guillard, Jim Miller and John Makdessi, breaking the jaw of Makdessi in the second round with an excellent head kick. Currently holding the #7 rank in the 170lbs division, 'Cowboy' may find himself in real title contention with a win over Lawler.
Successfully defending his Welterweight crown twice since his triumph over Johny Hendricks, Lawler endured wars against Rory MacDonald and Carlos Condit to remain the king of the divison. A shocking one punch KO loss to current divison mastermind Tyron Woodley brought a firm stop to the steam train of Lawler, who has an incredible knack of enduring punishment, but was duelling handled by the powerhouse that is 'The Chosen One'.
