Floyd Mayweather V Conor McGregor confirmed for August 26th in Las Vegas:

We've finally had some confirmation!
After countless months of anticipation, discussion and traded barbs aplenty, undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. will take on UFC Lightweight champion Conor McGregor in a boxing match on the 26th of August in Las Vegas. Confirmed by NSAC chairman Anthony Marnell, Mayweather Promotions had applied to host the bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, both men also took to their social media accounts to confirm the meeting, with 'The Notorious' one posting a picture of himself and Floyd Mayweather Sr. with the caption "THE FIGHT IS ON", yet another shot at his August opponent.

Mayweather is regarded by many as the greatest defensive boxer of all time, with a perfect 49-0 record, but puts his legacy on the fore front when he faces heavy hitter McGregor. Mayweather last featured in the ring against Florida native Andre Berto in a comfortable decision win in his retirement bout. The so called 'Fight of The Century' of course included 'Money', as the Michigan star similarly out shone Philippian favourite Manny Pacquiao, earning a cool $179 million in the process. Other notable victories on the 40 year-old's record include a dominant win over Ricky Hatton, a decision defeat of Oscar De La Hoya, a win over power puncher 'Suger' Shane Mosley and has twice beaten Argentine Marcos Maidana, adding to wins over Miguel Cotto, Juan Manuel Marquez and a green Canelo Alvarez. With a reach of 72", Mayweather will give up a two inch reach advantage against the 28 year-old Dublin native, but don't expect him to give up much more.

Arguably the most polarising star in mixed-martial arts history, Conor McGregor made UFC history last November, securing the Lightweight crown from the clutches of Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, adding to his Featherweight title, and in the process became the organisations first to hold two different titles in different weight classes simultaneously. McGregor's demener has been enough to overwhelm past opponents alone, but with that piston of a left hand, and the accuracy of his shots, I wouldn't count the Irish star out just yet. With undeniable knockout power, McGregor has finished all but 2 of his 9 UFC wins, stopping José Aldo in spectacular fashion and completely decimating the aforementioned Alvarez to name a few. This will of course be a first for McGregor in terms of a professional boxing bout, and his berth comes against one of the most skilled men to ever put on a pair of gloves.
