Tyron Woodley and Demian Maia to meet at UFC 214:

UFC 214 is stacked!
Current UFC Welterweight kingpin Tyron 'The Chosen One' Woodley will add to the already stacked UFC 214 card, as he defends his crown against Brazilian grappler and #1 ranked contender Demian Maia. The victor of this bout will then go on to defend against former Welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre after his scheduled constest against Michael Bisping fell out.

The rightful contender to the crown, Maia picked up a decision win over boxer Jorge Masvidal at UFC 211 last May, and after extending his unbeaten run to an astonishing 7 fights, has finally earned a second crack at UFC gold. Demian is also arguably the greatest grappler in mixed-martial arts history, holding both Pan American and ADCC championships to his name. Notable submissions wins over Matt Brown, Carlos Condit, Chael Sonnen and Neil Magny have cemented his stake as a worthy title challenger. Maia's striking is certainly adapt but the power and standup of Woodley will most likely cause Demian trouble if the Brazilian can't find a way to get this bout to the mat.

After smashing Robbie Lawler in the first round of their championship bout, Tyron Woodley faced Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson twice, first at UFC 205 where they fought to a majority draw in a thrilling spectacle, before the Missouri native picked up a majority decision win over Thompson to successfully retain the Welterweight crown. A wrestler at heart, Woodley is also an incredibly dangerous striker with a piston of a right hand, but has been known to 'gas' throughout the course of a contest.

Maia will most definitely present the most difficult grappling matchup that Woodley has ever faced, while Woodley may rival Anderson Silva as the most dangerous striker Maia has ever shared the octagon with. Classic interesting striker versus grappler matchup. Woodley and Maia is the third title bout on the UFC 214 card, with Cris 'Cyborg' facing Tonya Evinger for the Women's Featherweight crown while a rematch between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones for the Light Heavyweight strap headlines the card.
