An eye-catching bantamweight matchup between recent feature, Casey Kenney, and former Cage Warriors bantamweight titleholder, Nathaniel 'The Prodigy' Wood has been booked for UFC 254 on October 24th. from the Flash Forum on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Featuring just last weekend at UFC Fight Island 4 - former LFA flyweight and bantamweight best, Kenney put on a striking masterclass opposite Heili Alateng to score his second consecutive victory with a one-sided unanimous judging win.
Successfully bouncing back from his first promotional defeat, Wood featured at UFC Fight Island 3 in July - securing a short-notice unanimous decision win over John Castañeda. News of the eye-catching 135-pound pairing was initially reported by UFC anchor, Karyn Bryant.
A five-fight organizational veteran, Kenney has managed to establish a notable 4-1 record under the UFC's banner. In between a two-fight winning run opposite both former flyweight title challenger, Ray Borg, and Manny Bermudez - Kennedy dropped a unanimous decision defeat to fellow divisional prospect, Merab Dvalishvili. Before his win over Alateng last Saturday night - the 29-year-old Portland native took home a rear-naked choke win over Louis Smolka.
Under the tutelage of former UFC bantamweight contender, Brad 'One Punch' Pickett - 27-year-old upstart, Wood has managed to notch a 17-4 professional record. Set for his sixth Octagon appearance, Wood made big waves initially with triumphs opposite Johnny Eduardo, Andre Ewell, and José Alberto Quiñónez. In a high-profile matchup with two-time flyweight title chaser, John Dodson at UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho in February, Wood dropped a third-round knockout loss.
