Amanda Nunes vs. Julianna Pena Slated For UFC 265 On August 7th.

Two-weight UFC champion, Amanda 'The Lioness' Nunes will return to the bantamweight ranks to attempt another successful defence of her 135-pound crown on August 7th. at UFC 265 -- drawing Julianna 'The Venezuelan Vixen' Pena in a championship matchup.

Returning to the bantamweight division for the first time since UFC 245 back in December of 2019, Nunes scored a second career win over inaugural featherweight gold holder, Germaine de Randamie. 

Scoring a return to winning ways following a surprising guillotine defeat to common-foe, de Randamie, Washington native, Pena scored a rear-naked choke victory over former title challenger, Sara McMann at UFC 257 in January on 'Fight Island'. UFC president, Dana White confirmed the matchup to ESPN MMA reporter, Brett Okamoto.

Taking co-main event status at UFC 259 in March, Nunes secured the second successful defence of her featherweight championship, scoring an emphatic triangle-armbar victory over former Invicta FC champion, Megan Anderson.

The winner of a stunning twelve fights consecutively, the 32-year-old Bahia bruiser is the consensus greatest female mixed martial artist of all time, overthrowing some of the most recognisable names in the sport. The Brazilian has bested the likes of Vanessa Porto, Julia Budd, Shayna Baszler, Valentina Shevchenko (x), Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, Holly Holm, Cris Cyborg, and Felicia Spencer to name a few.

31-year-old contender, Pena scored The Ultimate Fighter 18 bantamweight tournament back in November of 2013 with a knockout victory over Jessica Racokzy. 

Campaigning heavily over the last couple of months for a matchup with Nunes off the back of the Brazilian's stoppage over Queensland native Anderson, Pena has bested the likes of common-opposition, Cat Zingano, as well as Jessica Eye, Milana Dudieva, and Nicco Montano in her professional career.
