Chris Weidman Posts X-Ray Images Of Ghastly Compound Fracture Suffered At UFC 261

Former UFC middleweight champion, Chris Weidman has been discharged from a medical facility in Jacksonville, Florida following successful surgery on a horrifying compound fracture suffered at UFC 261 on Saturday in his main card rematch with Uriah Hall.
Weidman, who tackled Hall in a rematch of their September 2010 clash under the Ring of Combat banner, suffered a brutal compound fracture of his right tibia and fibula. The Baldwin native saw his first offensive action of the night -- a right low kick partially checked by Hall just eighteen seconds into the opening round.
Providing an update, Weidman's wive, Marivi, explained how the procedure was a success, with a titanium rod placed in her husband's right leg in an attempt to realign his tibia, secured by a pair of screws. As for his fibula, doctors informed him that they are hopeful it will realign and heal by itself.

Snapping his tibia and fibula upon impact immediately, Weidman stepped back following the kick -- putting his body weight onto his right leg, hyperextending his leg severely before suffering a ghastly compound fracture.
Waving off the fight instantly, referee, Herb Dean allowed officials and medical staff to attend to Weidman, who had his right leg placed in a compression sleeve before he was removed from the Octagon via a stretcher.
Wheeled backstage and brought to a medical facility, UFC president, Dana White explained after the event that Weidman was in a stable condition, and expecting surgery to take place on Sunday.

As for his fibula, doctors informed him that they are hopeful it will realign and heal by itself.
Posting a video on his official Instagram, Weidman himself explained that doctors had informed him that he will be unable to walk without the aid of crutches for eight weeks and that a period between six to twelve months will have to taken into consideration before he begins training once again.
This afternoon, Weidman took to his official Twitter account where he posted a couple of x-ray images of his leg both prior to and after the surgical procedure performed on Sunday morning in Florida.
