Jan Blachowicz vs. Glover Teixeira Slated For UFC 266 On September 4th.

A light heavyweight title matchup between incumbent gold holder, Jan Blachowicz and veteran challenger, Glover Teixeira will take place on September 4th. at UFC 266 -- with a location or venue for the event yet to be determined by the promotion.

Attempting to lodge the second defence of his light heavyweight throne, Polish striker, Blachowicz scored a unanimous decision win over current middleweight titleholder, Israel Adesanya in the main event of UFC 259 in March.

For Minas Gerais veteran, Teixeira he'll make his second attempt at the 205-pound crown, currently riding a five-fight winning spree, most recently rounded off with a UFC Vegas 13 submission win over compatriot, Thiago Santos in September. UFC president, Dana White confirmed the booking to ESPN MMA reporter, Brett Okamoto

Undefeated in his last five professional appearances as well, former KSW light heavyweight best, Blachowicz claimed the undisputed vacant 205-pound crown on 'Fight Island' back in September at UFC 253 -- stopping Dominick Reyes with a vicious second-round knockout win. 

The victory over City Kickboxing standout, Adesanya improved his professional record to 28-8 -- which includes triumphs over the likes of Thierry Remeau Sokoudjou, Houston Alexander, Ilir Latifi, Jared Cannonier, Jimi Manuwa, Nikita Krylov, Luke Rockhold, Jacare Souza, and Corey Anderson to name a few.

First competing for light heavyweight back in April of 2014, Teixeira dropped a unanimous decision defeat to former two-time division pacesetter, Jon Jones at UFC 172.

Enjoying a career resurgence as of late, the Brazilian has managed to knock back five consecutively, stopping former title chasers, Santos, and Anthony Smith, as well as Karl Roberson and Ion Cutelaba, in between a split decision win over common-opposition, Nikita Krylov.
