UFC 264: Poirier vs. McGregor III Booked For T-Mobile Arena, 20,000 Fans In Attendance

UFC 264 is official for July 10th. at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada -- and is set to be headlined by the lightweight rubber match between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor, with 20,000 fans in attendance.
On May 15th. -- the promotion will field a UFC 262 pay-per-view event to a full crowd at the Toyota Centre in Houston, Texas. Taking main event status at that event is a vacant lightweight title matchup between Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler. In the night's co-main event, for the first time, the promotion will feature a five-round, non-title, co-headliner as the #3 ranked welterweight contender, Leon Edwards matches with Stockton veteran, Nate Diaz.
In a promotional video featuring UFC president, Dana White released this afternoon, the organizational leader confirmed the trilogy pairing of the two, despite the recent verbal spat between Poirier and McGregor across social media, where the latter even claimed that he wouldn't be fighting Poirier on July 10th. -- before posing the question to fans as to who he should fight instead. Tickets for the event are set to go on sale this week.
Returning to the venue for the first time since UFC 248 in March of last year, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic forced the promotion to field events behind a closed gate, at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, and to limited crowds on occasion at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Slated to make a return to an open gate format later this month on April 24th. -- the promotion will field a card featuring three title fights at the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida to a full crowd. Taking main event honours is a welterweight title rematch between Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal, while flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko defends her title against Jessica Andrade, and strawweight titleholder, Zhang Weili clashes with Rose Namajunas in her second title defence.
