UFC 268 - Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington 2 Headlines Targeted MSG Event In November

The long-awaited welterweight championship rematch of current gold holder, Kamaru 'The Nigerian Nightmare' Usman and former interim titleholder, Colby 'Chaos' Covington is set to headline a UFC 268 pay-per-view event -- with November 6th. projected as the date for the showcase, and Madison Square Garden in New York City tentatively targeted as the location for the event.

Initially clashing in the main event of UFC 245 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada back in December of 2019 -- Usman lodged the first successful defence of his title reign with an eventual fifth round knockout win over Covington. 

Most recently featuring in the main event of UFC 261 in Jacksonville, Florida back in April of this year, Auchi-born finisher, Usman grabbed a second career win over BMF champion, Jorge Masvidal -- stopping the Floridian with a thunderous second round knockout.

Rebounding following his loss to Usman, Clovis native, Covington himself grabbed an eventual fifth round TKO victory over former division champion and common-foe, Tyron Woodley in the main event of UFC Vegas 11 back in September of last year. In the midst of a stunning 18-fight undefeated streak, ONX Labs mover, Usman has scored four successful defences of the welterweight championship since assuming the throne back in March of 2019 in shutout decision win over Woodley.

Along with his finishes of Masvidal and Covington, Usman stopped recent UFC 264 co-headliner, Gilbert Burns and took a prior unanimous decision win over Masvidal on short-notice last July on 'Fight Island'.

In his Octagon run, the 34-year-old Nigerian has also lodged successful performances against the likes of Leon Edwards, Warlley Alves, Sean Strickland, Demian Maia, and former lightweight champion, Rafael dos Anjos. 

A former interim gold holder, MMA Masters mover, Covington himself took home a unanimous decision win over dos Anjos -- as well as grabbing other notable triumphs against former welterweight best, Robbie Lawler, Max Griffin, Bryan Barberena, Dong Hyun Kim, and common-opposition, Maia.
