An eye-catching featherweight bout between the #9 ranked contender, Edson Barboza and the #10 rated, Giga Chikadze will take main event honours at a UFC Fight Night event on August 28th. -- with a location or venue for the bout yet to be confirmed by the organization.

Last featuring at UFC 262 in May at the Toyota Centre in Houston, Texas -- Muay Thai ace, Barboza lodged his second win at 145lbs -- stopping the gritty, Shane Burgos with a peculiar third round knockout in a Fight of the Night main card bout.

Also last featuring in May, Georgian striker, Chikadze took home another win under the promotion's banner -- stopping veteran division mainstay, Cub Swanson with a wicked first round body kick. The win came as Chikadze's sixth straight in the UFC. News of the eye-catching headlining bout was first reported by ESPN MMA reporter, Brett Okamoto.

Making his move to the UFC's featherweight ranks back in May of last year, Nova Friburgo striker, Barboza suffered a close, quite dubious split decision defeat to recent headliner, Dan Ige -- suffering a loss in his divisional bow.

Rebounding since, the veteran knockout artist took home a decision victory of his own over Makwan Amirkhani on short-notice in October last on 'Fight Island' -- prior to his stunning third round knockout win over Burgos.

Tbilisi native, Chikadze will make his first walk as a promotional headliner under the UFC's banner in August -- having taken home a promotional perfect 6-0 record since his transition to the Octagon back in September 2019.

The decorated kickboxer has been chomping at the bit for a quickfire return following his knockout win over Swanson, and looks to lodge arguably the most high-profile victory of his professional mixed martial arts career to date, following prior successes against Brandon Davis, Jamall Emmers, Irwin Rivera, Omar Morales, and Jamey Simmons.
