Joe Rogan Claims Conor McGregor Pursued Post-Fight Interview Following UFC 264 Leg Injury

UFC colour commentator, comedian, and podcaster, Joe Rogan has claimed that former two-weight champion, 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor pursued a post-fight interview with him immediately following his UFC 264 headliner against Dustin Poirier earlier this month -- despite having just suffered fractures to his left tibia and fibula. 

McGregor, who headlined the promotion's first event at the T-Mobile Arena since March of last year amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, suffered a first round doctor's stoppage TKO loss to Poirier, after it became apparent at the end of the opening frame that he had suffered fractures to his left tibia and fibula after what appears to have been a miscued teep attempt to Poirier's body, which the Lafayette native shelled with his right elbow. 

Remaining in a seated position by the Octagon fence as Octagon-side doctor's and his corner assessed the injury, McGregor began hurling insults and leveled threats to both Poirier and his wife, Jolie Poirier during the former's post-fight interview with Joe Rogan -- gesturing gun signs toward his own head.

"In your sleep, you're getting it, in your sleep you're getting it," McGregor said while motioning a gun sign toward his own head. "In your sleep you're dead, you and your Mrs. It ain't over, trust me. Be careful what you say, mate."

During his own post-fight interview, McGregor maintained that while Poirier claimed a checked leg kick attempt resulted in the injury, that was the case, before firing more insults toward the married pair.

"I was boxing the bleedin' head off him (Dustin Poirier), kicking the bleedin' leg off him -- usual sh*te, dive to close the distance," McGregor replied post-fight when asked by Rogan how he thought the fight was going up until his injury. "This is not over -- if I have to take this outside with him, it's on outside I don't give a bollocks. There was no check, not one of them (leg kicks) were checked."

"Your wife is in me DM's, hey, baby, hit me back up I'll chat to you little on, I'll be at your after party, the Wynn nightclub, baby," McGregor shouted toward both Dustin and Jolie Poirier. "You (Jolie) look in bits, you little hoe. F*ck him. Just the thing had separated and I landed on the bleedin' wonky leg like Anderson Silva that time, something similar to that -- it's a f*ckin' mad auld business. F*ck sake."

Whilst McGregor received mass criticism for his words following the event, his head-coach, John Kavanagh voiced his displeasure with the production team's effort to secure an interview from the Dubliner who had just suffered a rather gruesome injury.

However, according to Rogan, who touched on the issue during a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience -- it was McGregor himself who had attempted to score an interview post-fight, asking to do a podcast with the colour commentator.

"People are (asking) like, 'Why did you interview him (Conor McGregor)," Rogan said. "He (McGregor) actually brought me over. He goes, 'Come over here, lad, let's have a podcast. Come on Joe (Rogan) let's have a f*cking podcast'. He like asked me to sit down next to him."

"I was like, how am I going to do this," Rogan explained. "I feel like I should just get something out of him. Even if you recognise the fact that he is emotionally charged up, this is just him expressing himself while he was emotionally charged up."

Rogan then extended an invitation for McGregor to appear on the podcast, encouraging him to bring down his mobility scooter to the studio as he recovers from recent surgery on his leg fracture.

"Take that [mobility] scooter down here, Conor (McGregor)," Rogan said. "Come on man, let's talk -- let's have some fun. Let's do a podcast, Conor."
