Tatiana Suarez Expected To Undergo Knee Surgery, Planning Best Comeback Story In Sports History

Forced from her Octagon return on September 25th. at UFC 266, undefeated wrestling ace, Tatiana Suarez is set to undergo surgery on a knee injury that ruled her from a flyweight divisional bow against veteran contender, Roxanne Modafferi. 

The 29-year-old was scheduled to make the climb to the flyweight limit following an extended stay a division lower at strawweight, and was recently cleared to return to active competition following numerous debilitating neck injuries, as well as suffering a recent concussion.

Set to meet with Modafferi, reports emerged last night detailing how an undisclosed injury forced had forced Suarez from the bout, with the promotion now hoping to secure the former a short notice replacement in a bid to keep her on the UFC 266 card in September. 

Out of action since July of 2019, Suarez extended her undefeated professional record to 8-0 at UFC 238 in Las Vegas, Nevada -- handing Nina Nunes a unanimous decision defeat over the course of three rounds.

In a lengthy statement released on her official Instagram, Suarez detailed her struggles with injuries in the past as well as a prior battle with cancer and explained how she plans to make her comeback story to the Octagon, the greatest comeback story in sports history. 

The Californian confirmed that she had suffered what she described as a "bad" knee injury, which would require surgery. "Hey, guys, so I have an announcement -- not the best announcement, but it has to be made," Suarez said in a video posted last night. "I sustained a very bad injury and now I need surgery..."

"Life really hits us hard sometimes," Suarez's caption read. "I'd lie and say I have it together but I don't. It's been tough, to say the least. I was really excited to fight again and I felt so ready and up for the task. I still can't believe this is my reality. It's heartbreaking, to say the least. I was in this same position a little over two years ago. I had to suck it up and focus on getting healthy. I did just that and here I am in the very same spot. This has to be one of the most challenging times of my life. But, as all of you know my journey has been filled with challenges. Injuries, Cancer more injuries. But, my journey has also been filled with many victories. I'm going to focus on those victories to carry me on. I have an amazing support system. My life is filled with people who love me and believe in me and that is priceless. Thank you all for your love and support. When I come back it will be better than every sports comeback story out there. I truly believe that. I believe I'm the best in the world. There is not a single doubt in my mind. Only up from here. #headup"

Boasting an undefeated 8-0 professional record, Suarez, who scored The Ultimate Fighter 23 tournament, has bested Amanda Cooper, Viviane Pereira, Alexa Grasso, former UFC strawweight champion, Carla Esparza, and the above-mentioned, Nunes during her brief run under the promotion's banner.
