Video - Conor McGregor Mobbed By Crowd In California Ahead Of UFC 264 Return

Former two-weight UFC champion, 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor has spent the last couple of months putting the finishing touches to his UFC 264 camp in California -- and with word spreading of the Dubliner's presence in town, hundreds of fans took to the streets awaiting his arrival from a restaurant last night. 

Headlining UFC 264 next weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada -- McGregor meets with former interim lightweight gold holder, Dustin Poirier in a trilogy outing, as the pair look to single themselves out as the first challenger to newly minted division champion, Charles Oliveira's throne. 

McGregor makes his first Octagon outing since January of this year where he met with Lafayette striker, Poirier on 'Fight Island' suffering a second round knockout in a rematch of the pair's September 2014 featherweight bout. 

Taking part in two Instagram live videos last night, McGregor, along with his team was at a restaurant in California, and on his way home, the 32-year-old was greeted by a swarm of at least a one-hundred strong crowd as he exited the restaurant. With security attempting to disperse the crowd of people, McGregor shadow boxed briefly in front of his white Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe before managing to eventually navigate the crowd and make his way home.

McGregor first met with Poirier back at UFC 178 in September 2014, stopping the then #5 ranked featherweight Poirier inside the first 90-seconds of the opening round with a knockout stoppage. McGregor would go on to then stop Dennis Siver, and then Chad Mendes to lift an interim title, before successfully unifying the titles in December the following year with a record-setting 13-second knockout over Jose Aldo. 

Ranked as the #1 rated lightweight in the UFC's official pile, American Top Team mainstay, Poirier is in the midst of a two-fight winning run including his January knockout over McGregor, which following a June unanimous decision win over Dan Hooker in a Fight of the Year contender.
