Conor McGregor Claims He's 'Going Through' Dustin Poirier At UFC 264: It's Not Going To Be Nice

The animosity, at least from the side of former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion, Conor McGregor ahead of this weekend's UFC 264 headliner against former interim lightweight gold holder appears to be rising approaching fight night -- with the Dubliner claiming he's "going through" Poirier in their rubber match.

Headlining the promotion's first outing in front of a live gate at the T-Mobile Arena for the first time since February of last year at UFC 248 -- McGregor looks to claim bragging rights in his third outing against Poirier, having dropped a second round knockout defeat earlier this year at UFC 257 in a lightweight rematch, seven-years in the making.

Last night, McGregor took to his official Twitter account -- sharing what appears to be an attempted message request from Jolie Poirier, the wife of Dustin, with McGregor's decision to leak the apparent Instagram DM (direct message) drawing much criticism across the mixed martial arts community. As of publication, the authenticity of the apparent message request is currently unverified. 

On Tuesday morning, McGregor also posted a voice note, alluding to Poirier, whom he labelled, "Peahead" -- a nickname he had given the American Top Team mainstay ahead of their September 2014 featherweight bout at UFC 178. 

Speaking with Rolling Stone magazine ahead of his rubber match with Poirier, McGregor once more criticised Poirier's apparent newfound vocal ability in the media following his January rematch win.

"He (Dustin Poirier) talks some amount lately which he will pay for; it's not going to be nice," McGregor said. "I'm going through my opponent on July 10th."

McGregor continued and claimed he will knock Poirier out at UFC 264 -- explaining how he is the most "dangerous" version of himself that he's ever been. 

"I'm going to knock him (Poirier) out," McGregor explained. "Without question. I'm the most dangerous I've ever been, I'm the most focused I've ever been. And I'm going to take him out. He won't have any way to deal with what I'm bringing on Saturday, and that's it."

A certain incentive has been offered to both Poirier and McGregor ahead of their trilogy bout this weekend, with UFC president, Dana White giving the green light to a title challenge against recently-minted lightweight titleholder, Charles Oliveira to the victor of this weekend's main event.
