A bantamweight title bout between reigning two-weight gold holder, Amanda 'The Lioness' Nunes and challenger, Julianna 'The Venezuelan Vixen' Pena has been reworked for UFC 269 on December 11. from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Originally slated to take co-headlining status at UFC 265 earlier this month at the Toyota Centre in Houston, Texas -- defending champion, Nunes was forced from her division return against Pena after she contracted COVID-19. As a result, the bout was cancelled and Pena was removed from the card entirely.

Undefeated in her last 12 Octagon walks, Bahia native, Nunes took co-main event status at UFC 259 in March -- comfortably stopping promotional alum, Megan Anderson with a first round triangle armbar to lodge her second successful featherweight title defence.

For Pena, The Ultimate Fighter 18 victor, featured at UFC 267 in January on 'Fight Island' -- submitting former bantamweight title challenger, Sara McMann with a late third round rear-naked choke. The UFC announced the pairing tonight on their official Twitter account.

Nunes, arguably the greatest female mixed martial artist of all time, last featured at the bantamweight limit at UFC 245 back in December 2019 where she grabbed a second career win over inaugural featherweight champion, Germaine de Randamie.

As part of her stunning undefeated streak, the Brazilian finisher has bested the likes of Shayna Baszler, Valentina Shevchenko (x2), Miesha Tate, Ronda Rousey, Cris Cyborg, Holly Holm, and Felicia Spencer.

Spokane, Washington grappler, Pena rebounded to the winner's enclosure with her submission stoppage over McMann earlier this year, following an October guillotine loss against the aforenoted common-foe, de Randamie.

14-4 as a professional, Pena has defeated the likes of common-opposition, McMann, inaugural flyweight champion, Nicco Montano, as well as former title challenger, Jessica Eye and Cat Zingano.
