An intriguing heavyweight matchup between the #13 ranked contender, Tom Aspinall, and the #15 rated, Sergei Pavlovich has been added to UFC Vegas 36 on September 4th. -- with the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada slated to house the event.
Returning to 'Fight Island' in Abu Dhabi, UAE in October, Aspinall managed to score his second UFC win this time with a knockout victory over Alan Baudot inside a minute and a half of the first frame. Extending his professional record to 10-2 with his win over the aforenoted, Arlovski, Aspinall has managed to take home eight knockout wins and a further two submission stoppages, giving him a 100 percent finish rate.
During his time with Fight Nights Global, Pavlovich won the inaugural heavyweight title and the promotion's Grand Prix with a unanimous decision win over Mikhail Mokhnatkin, and then successfully defended the title with a first round knockout victory over Kirill Sidelnikov.
In the midst of a six-fight undefeated spree, Salford native, Aspinall is in line for his second Octagon walk of the year following an impressive rear-naked choke victory over veteran former undisputed heavyweight champion, Andrei Arlovski at UFC Vegas 19 in February. The submission win earned Aspinall Performance of the Night honours.
For former Fight Nights Global heavyweight champion, Pavlovich -- he is in line for his first Octagon walk since UFC Fight Night Kallang back in October of 2019 where he stopped Maurice Greene with opening round strikes to score his second Octagon victory. The UFC officially announced the pairing this afternoon.
A three-fight veteran in the UFC since his move to the organization from Cage Warriors back in July of last year, Aspinall landed in the Octagon with an impressive first round knockout win over Jake Collier.
