Peter Queally Hopes Bellator Dublin Rematch With Patricky Pitbull Is Sanctioned For Five Rounds

Booked to co-headline Bellator 270 on November 5. from the 3Arena in a rematch against the #1 ranked lightweight challenger, Patricky 'Pitbull' Freire, the #4 rated, Peter 'The Showstopper' Queally has claimed that he hopes the promotion will sanction their title-eliminator re-run for five rounds rather than three.
"Well it's a number-one contender fight, that's it," Queally said. "I've actually requested that this (rematch) be five rounds, which we're still -- that may happen or may not happen. I'm not sure. I've said I want this to be five rounds, as a number-one contender fight should be five rounds."
"So, I'm really ready to put this to bed now, and see who is the better fighter," Queally explained. "I'm willing to go five rounds, and we'll see who the better man is. We'll see if he's (Freire) is willing to do that. I don't think he will be, to be honest. He would rather this be three rounds, be in there for the littlest time as possible with me I think. But I've asked for this to be five rounds, because it is a number-one contenders fight, and all number-one contender fights should be five rounds. So it's a huge fight for the division."
Queally, who initially met with Brazilian veteran, Freire in May at Bellator 258 in Uncasville, Connecticut, managed to take home a second round doctor's stoppage victory over the Brazilian, having opened a sizeable laceration on the Freire's hairline due to a barrage of elbows from his back in full guard.
The victory came as Queally's second straight under the Scott Coker-led banner following a massive rallying knockout victory over common-foe, Ryan Scope in a high-profile Bellator 227 in Dublin, Ireland back in September 2019.
Speaking with Virgin Media Sport following the confirmation of his rematch with Freire, Queally explained how he hopes Bellator will sanction their re-run to take place over the course of five rounds, given the title implications on the line for the emerging victor.

Waterford native, Queally, a prominent figure at Straight Blast Gym, suffered a close split decision loss in his Bellator promotional debut against former teammate, Myles Price back at Bellator 217 in February 2019.
Prior to his move to Bellator, Queally featured four times under the Fight Nights Global banner -- lodging a pair of notable victories over Igor Egorov, and David Khachatryan.
A rescheduled headlining bout between Queally's teammate, surging bantamweight grappler, James 'The Strabanimal' Gallagher and one-time division title chaser, renowned finisher, Patchy 'No Love' Mix is slated to take main event honours at the 3Arena event.
