Former two-weight UFC champion, 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor has again fired barbs toward three-time opponent and former interim lightweight champion, Dustin 'The Diamond' Poirier, claiming he bounced the Lafayette native's head off the Octagon canvas "like a basketball" during their UFC 178 pairing back in September 2014.

McGregor, who is currently recovering from recent surgery to repair a fractured tibia in his left leg, has dropped two consecutive losses against the #1 ranked lightweight contender, Poirier, the most recent of which at UFC 264 last month.

Headlining the promotion's return to the T-Mobile Arena, McGregor suffered a fractured tibia in his left leg with just 10-seconds remaining in the opening round of their trilogy rubber match in Las Vegas, resulting in a doctor's stoppage loss for the Dubliner at the end of the first frame.

In January of this year, McGregor featured in the main event of UFC 256 against Poirier in a lightweight rematch in Abu Dhabi, UAE -- suffering a second round knockout loss to the Louisianan, who became the first to finish the Dubliner with strikes in professional mixed martial arts.

In the time since suffering his loss to Poirier, the Crumlin native has been extremely vocal on Twitter, unleashing numerous tirades aimed at Poirier, as well as commentary duo, former champions, Daniel Cormier and Michael Bisping, light heavyweight contender, Anthony Smith, as well as former lightweight champion and arch-rival, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Taking to his Twitter, McGregor responded with "ye sounds about right" to a video posted which showed Poirier speaking on comedian, Theo Von's podcast, where he explained how he was involved in a street fight with a man who had attempted to make a move on his wife, Jolie Poirier as she leaned over a fence engaging in a conversation.

In response to McGregor's comment, Poirier posted a picture of McGregor unconscious during their UFC 256 clash in January which drew a lengthy response from the Dubliner, who reflected on their first pairing back in 2014.

"Ye pal live on that one way back, I will too," McGregor commented. "I bounced your head off the canvas like a basketball. Your wife bro. The dm's. Elbows into your dome. The soft part of the skull that doesn't harden ever. From when you're a baby. Drilled into your skull at 100mph. U slept on my belly."
