A strawweight matchup between the #7 ranked contender, Nina Nunes, and the #13 ranked challenger, Amanda Lemos has been added to a UFC event on December 18th. -- with a location or venue for the event yet to be determined by the organization.
Hoping to snap a two-fight slide in her return to the Octagon before the close of this year, Nunes, the wife of two-weight champion, Amanda Nunes, suffered a first round armbar defeat against Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu maestro, Mackenzie Dern at UFC on ABC 2 in April at the UFC Apex facility.
Scoring four consecutive victories since her return to the 115lbs strawweight division, Belem native, Lemos scored an eye-catching 35-second knockout victory over Montserrat Ruiz at UFC Vegas 31 last month. Combate reporter, Raphael Marinho was first to report the booking of Nunes and Lemos.
Returning from pregnancy in her outing against Dern, Nunes suffered her second consecutive defeat after dropping a unanimous decision loss to the undefeated wrestling standout, Tatiana Suarez at UFC 238 back in June of 2019.
Boasting a 10-7 professional record, Nunes has nabbed an eye-catching four-fight winning spree prior to her loss against Suarez -- taking wins over Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger, former Invicta FC champion, Angela Hill, division mainstay, Randa Markos, as well as one-time strawweight title challenger, Claudia Gadelha.
10-1-1 as a professional, 34-year-old Brazilian powerhouse, Lemos has lodged an incredible seven knockout victories from those 10 wins. In her sole Octagon loss, the top-15 contender dropped a debut knockout loss against promotional alum, Leslie Smith.
Since her move to the strawweight ranks, Lemos has finished the aforenoted, Ruiz, Livia Renata Souza, Miranda Granger, as well as a unanimous judging triumph against Mizuki Inoue. Lemos is also a former Jungle Fight bantamweight titleholder.
