Ray Borg claims huge decision win over Jussier Formiga:

Ray Borg eyes the winner of Demetrious Johnson and Wilson Reis' Flyweight title clash.
125lbs challengers Jussier Formiga and Ray Borg clashed at UFC Fight Night Fortaleza, with the winner possibly finding themselves in line for a title tilt against either Demetrious Johnson or Wilson Reis. Brazilian grappler Formiga was victorious against Dustin Ortiz in his last octagon appearance, while Borg also picked up a decision win, despite missing weight for his bout with Louis Smolka. At just 23 years of age, Borg has a big future in the sport.

The opening round began with Mario Yamasaki in the middle, with a leg kick opening well for Jussier. Borg then tagged Formiga with a good uppercut, but Formiga appeared unfazed. A pause in the action took place after Formiga's leg kick strayed to the groin of Borg. Against the fence, Formiga was landing some decent knees in tight, keeping Borg on his toes. So far, Formiga hasn't looked to implement his grappling prowess. Some good exchanges as the round came to a close, with Borg stuffing a tame double leg attempt from Formiga before a spinning back fist from Formiga landed flush on the chin of Ray Borg. Hugely close round, just goes to Borg in my opinion.

The second round seen Borg shoot for a single leg, which Formiga fended off expertly. Formiga then scored a big unchecked leg kick, before showing supreme balance to avoid being taken down. Borg was then able to defend a single leg from Formiga, with both men displaying high level defence when called upon. Another big leg kick landed for Jussier Formiga, which really hurt Borg who looked to immediately fire back. Round two is too close to call.

The third and final round would certainly have big implications for both fighters as so far, nothing has separated them. Borg, momentarily had Formiga on the canvas early on. After recovering well, Formiga looked to take the back of Borg, forcing him to the mat, before Borg scrambled and escaped.  Formiga then exploded into dominant position, securing the body lock but his rear-naked choke attempt was defended cleverly. Borg managed to sweep and wound up in full guard, where he looked to land some slashing elbows. Formiga looked to explode and grab an armbar, but Borg recovered and laid down some good ground and pound from half guard as they go the distance. The onlooking judges then gave a unanimous decision to the youngster Ray Borg.
